Success of the 2nd phase of the Coppa D-One in Genoa
In the charming setting of the Circolo Vele Vernazzolesi in Genoa, the second phase of the Coppa Italia D-One took place successfully on the 6th and 7th of April.
Despite the challenges posed by inclement weather, sailing enthusiasts demonstrated great determination and competitive spirit.Weather conditions certainly did not help the fleet, with the wind being extremely shy during the two days of racing. However, on Saturday it was possible to complete two races despite the almost complete absence of wind, while on Sunday, despite the fleet’s attempt to set sail, the weather did not allow for any further racing opportunities.Despite the difficulties encountered, the committee proved to be up to the task, professionally managing the races and ensuring maximum safety for all participants.
The prize-giving ceremony was the culmination of two intense days of racing, with the stage winners showing skill and determination. The podium was dominated by Alessandro Gasparini (ITA111) in first position, Alessandro Novi (ITA101) in second and Enrico Ciferri (ITA315) in third.
The large presence of boats on the water made the event even more vibrant, confirming the enthusiasm and interest surrounding the world of sailing in Genoa and throughout Italy.Devoti Sailing congratulates the organizers and participants who once again demonstrated their love for the sea and sailing, making the event an unforgettable experience for all involved.
D-Zero Open at Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club
Devoti Sailing had a fantastic outing at the recent D-Zero open hosted by Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club. The event, blessed with sunny skies and a gentle breeze, provided the perfect setting for some thrilling races.
Situated on the Quay in Emsworth, the sailing club boasts a welcoming atmosphere and bustling dinghy and cruising sections, catering to both racing enthusiasts and those seeking social activities on the water.
Scheduled for Saturday, March 23, a training session prepared participants for the main event on Sunday, March 24, featuring four exciting races with a total of twelve sailors vying for the top spots.
In the end, it was Adam Cockerill who emerged victorious, showcasing impressive sailing skills and securing the first-place position. Following closely behind, Ben Hodges claimed second place, while Tom Southwell rounded off the winners’ podium in third.
Devoti Sailing congratulates all participants for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship, and looks forward to more successful outings on the water in the future.
Devoti Sailing takes part in the 2024 ILCA European Under-21 Championships in Mallorca
The 2024 ILCA Under 21 European Championships & Open European Trophy have concluded triumphantly yesterday in Majorca, Spain, under the impeccable organization of Reial Club Nàutic de Pollença.After an intense series of 10 races, the medalists emerged as follows:
Lilly May Niezabitowska from Poland, who held the lead throughout, was ultimately crowned the new 2024 ILCA 6 Under 21 European champion, securing the coveted Gold medal. Emma Mattivi from Italy claimed the bronze medal, while Spanish sailor Claudia Adan Lledo made a remarkable ascent from third to second position, earning the Silver medal.Among the top 10 competitors, the Devoti team made a notable presence with Eve McMahon from Ireland securing the fourth position and Marga Perello from Spain finishing eighth.
The men’s championship witnessed a thrilling showdown in the final race, as Enrico Tanferna from Italy and Ole Schweckendiek from Germany battled fiercely with just a two-point difference. However, Tanferna’s narrow lead secured him the Gold medal by a single point, leaving Schweckendiek with the Silver.The Bronze medal was claimed by the Under 19 champion, Rem Pulci Magen from Israel, adding to the honors for the Devoti Team. Another standout performance from the Devoti camp was from Yogev Alcalay from Israel, who secured the fifth position.We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, authorities, and volunteers whose dedication made this event a resounding success.

Highlights from the D-One Italia Cup in Desenzano
In the picturesque setting of Lake Garda, the D-One Italia Cup took place last weekend at Fraglia Vela Desenzano. Despite uncertain weather conditions, characterized by very light winds, sailing enthusiasts were able to enjoy two days of thrilling and competitive races.
The Race Committee, led by President Mino Miniati, demonstrated great skill in organizing the races, managing to complete a regatta both on Saturday and Sunday, making the most of the brief moments of breeze that arose.
Despite the limited number of races, the excitement on the water was palpable, with participants giving their all to compete for the title. In the end, it was Enrico Ciferri from Circolo Nautico Vernazzolesi who triumphed, securing a double victory and showcasing great mastery in handling the changing wind conditions. Following closely behind were Alessandro Gasparini from LNI Belluno and Alberto Franceschi from LNI Rapallo, both demonstrating exceptional technical and tactical skills.
The competition was not only an opportunity to challenge each other at sea, but also to socialize on land.

Devoti Sailing celebrates podium success at ILCA European Senior Championship 2024
Athens, Greece – Devoti Sailing is once again basking in the glory of triumph, securing a podium position at the ILCA European Senior Championship 2024.
In the challenging ILCA 7 category, our outstanding athletes from Devoti Sailing delivered stellar performances, taking the top positions and earning well-deserved recognition. Gold was won by Finland’s Valtteri Uusitalo, silver by Hungary’s Jonatan Vadnai and bronze by Ireland’s Finn Lynch. Benjamin Vadnai achieved a creditable fifth place, Nicholas Halliday a seventh place and Tonci Stipanovic a respectable tenth.
In the women’s ILCA 6 category, Devoti Sailing continued its impressive streak with outstanding performances from our athletes. Croatia’s Elena Vorobeva demonstrated her sailing finesse, taking a commendable fourth place. France’s Pernelle Michon and Denmark’s Ann-Marie Rindom shared seventh place, contributing significantly to Devoti Sailing’s overall success in the women’s category.

Norwegian Sailor Hermann Tomasgaard Secures Silver Medal at 2024 ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship
Another competition that proves how sailing a Devoti ILCA prepares you for your best performance at any regatta, as class legal boats built with passion that allow the skills of the athletes to shine.
Adelaide, Australia hosted the 2024 ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship, drawing 153 skilled athletes from across the globe. After six days of fierce competition, Australian Matt Wearn emerged as the gold medalist, while Norwegian Hermann Tomasgaard secured the coveted silver medal. England’s Micky Beckett placed third, rounding out the podium.
The championship featured a grueling schedule of two races per day, culminating in the medal race on January 31. Despite the demanding conditions, Tomasgaard demonstrated exceptional sailing prowess, consistently placing among the top contenders.
“It was a physically hard regatta with strong winds and long races,” Tomasgaard reflected after the medal race. “For me, this was one of the best regattas I’ve ever sailed, and I’m very happy with the improvements I’ve made over the winter, particularly regarding boat speed in specific conditions.”
Tomasgaard’s performance highlights his dedication to continuous improvement and his ability to thrive under pressure. His silver medal at the 2024 ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship further cements his status as a top contender in the sport.
As attention now turns to the upcoming European Championships in Alimos, near Athens, Tomasgaard and his fellow competitors will undoubtedly draw inspiration from their experiences in Adelaide. Anne Marie Rindom Secures Fourth ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship Title in Mar del Plata
MAR DEL PLATA, ARGENTINA – January 10, 2024 – The 2024 ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship, organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the International Laser Class Association, concluded on January 10th in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
Anne Marie Rindom from Denmark secured her place in sailing history by winning the ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship for the fourth time in her career. Her previous victories were in 2015 (Al Mussanah), 2019 (Sakaiminato), and 2022 (Kemah). Rindom maintained a commanding lead throughout the championship, securing the title even before the final day. The current Olympic champion finished with 58 points in eleven races, sailing the Medal Race without pressure.Rindom’s achievement places her among the most successful sailors in the ILCA 6 Women’s World Championships, alongside Marit Bouwmeester NED and Katarzyna Szotynska POL, both with 4 titles each. Rindom has also claimed two Bronze medals at the ILCA 6 Worlds in 2018 (Aarhus) and 2023 (The Hague).Next on Rindom’s agenda is the Senior Europeans in Athens, scheduled for February 16th to 23rd at Nautical Club Kalamaki.
The Silver medal went to Charlotte Rose from the United States, securing second place with 75 points. This marks her first ILCA 6 Worlds medal and the first for the United States in the last eight years.With a three-point difference, Belgian Emma Plasschaert secured the Bronze medal.
Apart from the titles and medals, the event was crucial for nations aiming for Olympic qualification. Seven spots for the Paris 2024 Olympics were at stake in Mar del Plata, and the following countries earned their tickets: Finland, Ireland, Uruguay, Spain, Brazil, Turkey, and Mexico.A total of 101 boats from 46 countries participated, making it a truly global and competitive event.
